Inaugural edition names first participants, opens ticket sales

Auckland, 23 September 2015 – The first edition of the NZ Web Fest (#NZWF15) has opened ticket sales and announced the first three speakers for the event: Peter Haynes, Roseanne Liang and Roberto Nascimento as the first of its presenters for the November event.

“New Zealand is a leader in digital content,” says event organiser Fiona Powell. “New Zealand web series High Road is currently winning the Web Series World Cup and YouTube talent Jamie Curry (Jamie’s World) and Shaaanxo are followed by millions around the world.”

Haynes has a substantial track record on short content, regularly named a finalist in the 48Hours competition, as well as webseries JF2: Primal Fury. At #NZWF15 he’ll give a special presentation of material from his upcoming AFK webseries.

Liang has made award-winning film My Wedding & Other Secrets and award-winning webseries Flat 3. She’s currently in post with webseries Friday Night Bites, the next outing from the team behind Flat 3.

Brazilian-born Nascimento is the creator and producer of another award-winning webseries, The Adventures of Suzy Boon, loosely based around his own experiences with NZ Immigration. Nascimento is a prolific producer, credited on 17 short films in the last five years – which is 10 less than the 27 projects on which he’s credited as an actor in the same period.

“With over 40 Web Fests held around the world each year, and NZ-made shows regularly selected in competition at those events, we’re delighted to create an opportunity to promote and celebrate that work here at home,” says #NZWF15 co-organiser Keith Barclay.

The NZ Web Fest runs 7 November at Media Design School, Auckland. Early bird tickets are now on sale via the website or Eventbrite: http://www.eventbrite.co.nz/e/nz-web-fest-2015-tickets-18601215737

The NZ Web Fest is created and presented by Fiona Powell, founder and publisher of NZ Web Series Channel, Web Show Central.tv and Keith Barclay, founder and editor, SCREENZ.
